Scientific Facilities
The Faculty has three affiliated scientific facilities:
Center for Interdisciplinary Nanostructure Science and Technology (CINSaT)
The Center for Interdisciplinary Nanostructure Science and Technology (CINSaT) sees itself as a center of nanoscientific activities at the University of Kassel with broad support from the Faculties of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Electrical Engineering/Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering and Philosophy. In order to define a clear CINSaT profile in the highly diversified field of nanosciences, a thematic focus on fields with great future potential was recently implemented: 3-dimensional nanostructures, biosensorics, photooxidative nanoparticles and photonics. One of the central aims of CINSaT is to promote scientific exchange between the various specialist areas and their traditional scientific disciplines.
Institute for Nanostructure Technology and Analytics (INA)
At the Institute for Nanostructure Technology and Analytics (INA) - formerly the Institute for Microstructure Technology and Analytics (IMA) - research is carried out into the development of new nanostructuring processes and their potential applications. Issues in the fields of nanostructure technologies, nanosystem technology, nanomechanics, nanosensor technology, nanoanalytics, optoelectronics, nanophotonics and nanoelectronics are being addressed.
NanoNetworkHessen (NNH)
The NanoNetzwerkHessen (NNH) was established in March 2004 with the support of the Hessian state government by the five universities and the five universities of applied sciences in the state in order to start close innovation-oriented cooperation in the field of nanosciences on the basis of a cooperation agreement. The NNH initiative aims to bundle the existing expertise at Hessian universities, initiate cooperation and further develop Hesse as a nanotechnology location. The coordinator of the NanoNetzwerkHessen is the University of Kassel.
Competence Center for University Didactics in Mathematics (KHDM)
TheCompetence Center for University Didactics in Mathematics (KHDM)aims to develop the scientific foundations of subject-related university didactics in mathematics-related degree programs, to implement and scientifically evaluate teaching innovations and to anchor university didactics in mathematics in Germany in a sustainable and internationally networked manner. Important research projects include, for example, the development of visual-experimental approaches to mathematics and instruments for competence diagnostics.
