Research  (David Scherf)

My research focuses on characterizing a conserved protein network essential for life: the so called Elongator complex. In humans, dysfunctions of the Elongator have been associated with different types of cancer and neurodegenerative diseases, like ALS. I thrive to advance our understanding regarding its precise cellular role and hope to contribute my findings to the emerging field of epitranscriptomics.
