Heat use in Agricultre
Heat can be used for many agricultural production processes, among other things: drying (hay, grain, wood chips, ...) heating (greenhouses, stables, domestic hot water, ...) cooling (milk, cereals, stables, cold stores, ... )
Excess heat from biogas plants
The number of biogas plants in Germany is about 3,000 ( 2006) - estimates range from 10,000 plants for the year 2010. (Source: FNR) At least 1,000,000 MWh of heat from about 2,500 biogas plants remained unused in 2005. (Source: Biogas Association) With the same amount of heat utilization in 2010, at least 4,000,000 MWh of heat will be unused.
Reasons for non-use of the heat
agricultural biogas plants in remote areas, so there are rarely external customers,
the plant operator does not have enough informationabout the possibility of heat utilization.
