    Das Biosphärenreservat Flusslandschaft Elbe –Brandenburg ist eines von 16 UNESCO Reservaten in Deutschland und hat eine Fläche von 530 km². Der Philosophie der UNESCO Reservate folgend sollen diese Modellregionen für einen nachhaltigen Umgang mit Ressourcen sein. Der Mensch wird also als Bestandteil der Biosphäre gesehen.
