Dr. Alberto Corsini from the Spanish National Research Council, Institute of Public Goods and Policies, Madrid, will give a presentation based on a research assessing the impact of a policy change in doctoral education introduced in Spain in 2011 (Royal Decree 99/2011), which, among other things, imposed a mandatory maximum duration for Spanish doctoral programs and increased controls at the institutional level. The analysis suggests that the legislative change appears to have had a positive impact on the productivity of those doctoral students who enrolled after its implementation.
