Car

Around the campus Holländischer Platz there are only very few parking spaces in the surrounding streets (Hentschelstraße, Mönchebergstraße). All parking spaces are subject to a fee.

A 7: Hamburg – Kassel – Frankfurt am Main or Würzburg/München

A 44: Köln/Dortmund – Kassel – Erfurt

A 49: Kassel – Marburg/Gießen – Frankfurt am Main

Arriving by car from the north:

From A7: Take the Kassel Nord exit, go straight down Dresdner Straße, at the third intersection (BMW dealership) turn right onto Scharnhoststraße, keep right here and continue straight onto Ysenburgstraße, then continue straight ahead (even over the tram tracks) and turn left onto Mönchebergstraße; the „Gießhaus“ is located on the right side. Parking is subject to a fee.

Arriving by car from the south:

From A7 or A44: Exit the motorway at „Kassel-Auestadion“ and follow the B3 crossing the city centre (about 5 km). At the tram stop „Weserspitze“ leave the B3 and turn left (uphill) into „Ysenburgstraße“. At the crossing „Ysenburgstraße” and „Mönchebergstraße“ turn left into „Mönchebergstraße“. The „Gießhaus“ is located almost at the end of the street on the right side.

A7: motorway exit „Kassel Süd“ (Kassel South); A44: motorway exit „Kassel West“ (Kassel west) onto A49 direction Kassel centre; take exit „Kassel Auestadion“ and continue to Frankfurter Straße (B3, 3rd traffic light), turn right and follow the road. Frankfurter Straße turns into Steinweg approximately at the level of the State Theater. Cross Kurt-Schumacher-Straße (Steinweg becomes Weserstraße), turn left at the next crossing onto Kurt-Wolters-Straße, take the next right (behind Enerprise rent-a-car) into Mönchebergstraße. The „Gießhaus“ is located on the left side.

Train Connections

The long-distance train station is Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe. You can also reach Kassel-Hauptbahnhof by regional train. Train connections are available at www.bahn.de.

  • „Katzensprung": tram lines 3 or 6
  • Alternative: tram lines 3, 4, 6 or 8 to stop „Am Stern", change there to tram line 1, 5, RT1 or RT4 or walk the short distance to Holländischer Platz.

Public transport from Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe trainn station

  • Tram line 1 (direction Holländische Straße/Vellmar), get off at tram stop „Holländischer Platz/Universität“
  • Tram line 3 (direction Ihringshäuser Straße), get off at tram stop „Katzensprung/Universität“
  • Bus line 52 (direction Sandershausen), get off at tram stop „Holländischer Platz/Universität“

Airports

The nearest airports are: Kassel-Calden, Frankfurt, Hannover and Paderborn. From Kassel-Calden, you can get to Kassel city center by cab or bus line 130. You can get the exact timetable on the website of the Kasseler Verkehrsgesellschaft. There are train connections to Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe from Frankfurt, Hanover and Paderborn.

From Frankfurt Airport, there is a direct train connection to Kassel-Wihelmshöhe. It takes about 90 minutes by InterCityExpress (ICE) trains and about 120 minutes by local trains.

From Hannover airport or Hamburg airport, shuttle busses or trams take you to the respective train stations within 20-25 minutes. ICE trains to Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe from Hamburg take about 140 minutes and from Hannover about 50 minutes.

Long-distance Buses

Long-distance buses stop in Kassel at the Wilhelmshöhe bus station and at the P+R parking lot Kassel-Ost. You can use search engines to find suitable providers of long-distance bus trips.
