Important IT information for first semester students

Congratulations on your decision to study at the University of Kassel! You have now landed at the university's IT Service Center.

Here you will find the three most important organizational steps that you should take care of immediately after admission : Activating your UniAccount, redirecting your university e-mail address and getting to know your Campuscard.

Then continue on the main website.

This is important at the start of your studies:

  1. activate UniAccount
  2. redirect e-mail address
  3. get to know the CampusCard
  4. set up WLAN

1. activate UniAccount

The UniAccount is the user ID with which students can log in to all central IT services. The account data (e.g. password) is managed in the "Identity Management" system.

2. activate e-mail

Together with your UniAccount you will receive a university e-mail address. All communication from the university will be via this e-mail address. It is therefore particularly important that - as soon as you have been accepted for a place at university - you

  • redirect this university e-mail address to your own private e-mail address or
  • regularly check your university e-mail account for new e-mails

3. get to know the CampusCard

The CampusCard (sent by post) is your student ID card for the entire duration of your studies. It is also your semester ticket and has other functions: Library card, cultural ticket, payment card in the canteen, copy card, etc.

4. set up WLAN

The University of Kassel offers users with a UniAccount access to the WLAN eduroam. With your UniAccount, you can easily connect anywhere on campus. Once set up, your device automatically connects to eduroam as soon as you are at a Kassel University location.

In addition, eduroam can also be used at many other universities and worldwide.

What happens next?

Great. The emails from the university are now arriving.

The next topics are housing, financing, getting to know the campus and, above all, making a note of the orientation dates. You can find information on all these topics here:
