CampusCard (identity and payment system)
Overview
Unfortunately, no new CampusCards can be printed from August 10, 2026, through August 20, 2026! This applies to both new and replacement cards. The reason for this is the transition to the University Library’s new circulation system, which also requires work on the card management system. During this period, card applications, activations, and deactivations cannot be processed via the website https://campuscard.uni-kassel.de. However, the validation machines will remain available and can be used as usual.
1. basic information
The CampusCard serves as a multifunctional ID card for students and employees of the University of Kassel. It supports various applications in everyday study and work life, e.g. as a student ID card, library card, means of payment and access card.
The CampusCard is used by students and staff. All other persons can apply for a library card via the library.
The IT Service Center (ITS) at the University of Kassel is responsible for issuing and providing support for the CampusCard for students and employees. Non-university members can apply for a library card through the library.
Other departments are responsible for specific functions, such as the University Library for library services or the Student Services Organization for the payment function (see Support and Contact).

The CampusCard is an electronic ID card that combines various functions: student ID card, library card, electronic wallet, print and copy card, access card and more. It makes everyday university life easier thanks to its central administration and versatile application options.
Alternative solutions exist for certain functions.
Payment: Cash or other payment methods in the canteen
Library card: Temporary library cards for external users
Access: Mechanical keys for certain areas

Example 1: A student uses the CampusCard to borrow books from the library, pay in the cafeteria and print documents.
Example 2: An employee uses the CampusCard for time recording, for access to certain buildings and as a means of payment in the cafeteria.

For students: Automatic creation of the CampusCard after enrolment, provided a photo has been uploaded to eCampus, internet connection and current browser required.
For employees: Application via https://campuscard.uni-kassel.de, internet connection and current browser required.
Activation of the card after receipt via https://campuscard.uni-kassel.de, internet connection and current browser required.

The CampusCard stores personal data, which is handled in accordance with the data protection regulations of the University of Kassel. In the event of loss or theft, the card should be blocked immediately to prevent misuse.
The use of the CampusCard is subject to the IT user regulations of the University of Kassel. For certain functions, such as the payment function, additional conditions of the Studierendenwerk apply.
