2. brief description
DBIS allows you to search for databases via a simple search, an advanced search and by selecting the subject area. Top databases recommended by Kassel University Library can be found in each subject area.
Access to the databases is recorded in DBIS. The traffic light system indicates the accessibility of the content:
- Green - freely accessible
- Yellow - license for the University of Kassel available
- Red - no license for the University of Kassel available
Each database detail page contains general information, information on the licensed content and the access link to the database.

- Example 1: A researcher searches for a specific database, checks whether it is available online and calls up the database.
- Example 2: A researcher searches for databases in his subject area, uses the traffic light system as a filter and is shown all licensed databases in his subject area.
- Example 3: A researcher searches for databases in his subject area, uses the traffic light system as a filter and is shown all freely accessible databases in his subject area.

- active UniAccount of the University of Kassel (e.g. for Beck-Online)
- Possibly software for opening PDF files (after downloading database content)
