FTP (file transfer service)

The FTP service enables access to frequently used software packages.
The service is aimed at students, lecturers and employees who wish to obtain software.
The IT Service Center is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the FTP server.
2. brief description
University members can download software packages or gain access to mirrored FTP servers via the anonymous FTP server (AFTP server).
Other FTP servers can often be accessed directly to download software packages. The next.Hessenbox and group resources(network drives) are available for exchanging files.
3. main functions
- Mirroring of FTP servers: Provision of frequently used data, e.g. different Linux distributions.
- Download of software packages: Access to provided software such as TSM backup software.
4th deployment scenario
Computer science students can download the latest Linux distributions quickly and without separate registration.
5. technical requirements
All you need for access is an Internet browser or an FTP client.

The server can be accessed anonymously, no special authentication is required.

The data and directories provided are maintained by the respective institutions on their own responsibility.
The general provisions of the IT user regulations apply. Users are obliged to observe the copyrights and license conditions of the downloaded software.
