Stata (statistical software)

Stata is a comprehensive statistics and data analysis software that is used for empirical research, data management, visualization and statistical modelling. It is particularly suitable for scientific work and courses using quantitative methods.

Students, lecturers and employees with a UniAccount can use Stata as part of the campus license. Use is restricted to research, teaching and studies.

The IT Service Centre manages the campus license and provides support with deployment and licensing.

Employees can view the license code on the "Request license key (employees)" subpage. For students, the software is provided via the VDI or directly via the Thinn app.

STATA offers comprehensive tools for statistical analysis, data preparation and graphical visualization of quantitative research data. Users can carry out complex statistical methods such as regressions, time series analyses or panel data modeling and present results clearly. The software is particularly popular in social and economic research projects and supports students and researchers with sophisticated empirical analyses.

Installation is possible on Windows, macOS and Linux. A valid UniAccount is required for use. The software is provided by the IT Service Center.

Employees can obtain a serial number and access information for installation from the IT Service Center. This can be found on the page "Request license key (employees)". Use of the software is only permitted for university purposes (research and teaching).

Students have the option of using Stata via the VDI environment or via ThinnApp (see Stata).

Free training courses on functions are offered by the software provider in English. Information can be found on the Stata website [external].

The software processes locally stored data. When working with personal data, care must be taken to comply with the applicable data protection regulations.

The campus license only permits use for research, teaching and studies. Commercial use is excluded. Licenses are issued centrally via the IT Service Center.
