On October 22, the PMDT department officially kicked off the winter semester with an information event at the Campus Center. The event attracted 150 students from around 25 degree programs and provided a detailed overview of the six modules dedicated to the challenges and opportunities in the field of project management and digital transformation. In addition to Professor Timo Braun, the entire team of academic staff was present to introduce themselves to the students in person. The modules, which are open to all students across the university, arouse a pronounced interdisciplinary interest. This broad and interdisciplinary appeal was clearly visible at the launch event and underlines the comprehensive relevance of the content on offer.

Our extended range of modules at a glance:

1. project management 1

• • Fundamentals of project management, in particular methods for planning and controlling projects
  • Well suited as a basis for in-depth study through specialized courses in our subject area
  • Highly interdisciplinary course with participants from over 20 degree programs(to the Moodle page)

2. strategic project management

• • in English
  • Focus on the interlinking of project management and corporate strategy
  • Interesting for students who already have some knowledge of PM and would like to delve deeper into management topics(Go to Moodle page)

3. research methods and analytics in project studies

• • In German, with a short excursus in English
  • Focus on scientific-analytical approach and methods
  • Particularly interesting for students who are about to write their final thesis
  • The subject is suitable as a "bridge" to start a thesis in our department(to the Moodle page)

4. leadership and behavior in projects

• • Block course consisting of individual appointments, in German
  • Focus on typical team and leadership situations as they occur in business practice
  • High practical relevance, development of your own skills as a future manager(To HIS registration; binding registration/deregistration by 31.10.; limited number of participants)

5. project modules 1 & 3 of our SMART BREW project series

• • Project-based work, directly on the object: The focus is on the digitalization of portafilter espresso machines, their equipment with sensors, actuators and microcontrollers as well as the development of approaches for novel business models. The modules (3 CP each) can also be combined(details on the SMART BREW project series).
  • In "Project 1 - Agile Development of IoT Solutions", you will use sensors and actuators to design and network an analog espresso machine in an intelligent/smart way. From monitoring and adjusting the brewing process to personalized coffee specialties - your creativity is required here(for registration; limited number of participants).
  • In "Project 3 - Development of smart product-service systems", you will get to know the Design Sprint methodology of Google Ventures and develop needs-based solutions for the world of tomorrow in guided workshops on the topic of coffee enjoyment(to register; limited number of participants).
    
    Become part of a selected innovation team and work together to design a coffee machine that is not only a technological leader, but also makes the best coffee in the world. In addition to free coffee, you will have your own project room for hands-on prototyping.
