Technical Thermodynamics

The Department of Technical Thermodynamics - TTK is part of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Kassel and is headed by Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Andrea Luke. There are currently four closely interlinked working groups with the following research focuses:

  • Heat transfer with phase change
    Evaporation and condensation,
  • Multiphase technology,
  • Absorption processes in refrigeration technology,
  • Energy conversion systems
    Heat engines, heat pumps, chillers

The working groups work on publicly and industry-funded research projects. In addition to the basic lectures in thermodynamics, the Department of Technical Thermodynamics offers in-depth courses in the fields of heat transfer, refrigeration technology and the thermodynamics of mixtures. The lectures are held both by Prof. Luke and by external lecturers from industry and research.
