Application process

for Erasmus+ and international projects

Here you will find a step-by-step guide on how to prepare for and successfully apply for your project abroad.

Objective 1: What do you want to do?

Would you like to study, do an internship, work placement(BPS) or write your thesis abroad? Define your goal in order to start the application process accordingly.

Websites:

2. time planning: When would you like to carry out the project abroad?

  • For a degree course:
    • Observe the semester times and nomination deadlines of the respective partner university.
    • Start the application process at least 6 months before the planned start date.
  • For an internship, BPS or thesis:
    • Plan your project carefully to ensure it is the best fit for you.
    • Start planning at least 4 months, preferably even earlier, before you start.
    • The application deadline for Erasmus funding is 2 months before the start of the project. As the funds are often exhausted early, we recommend submitting your application early.
  • Erasmus funding:
    • Erasmus funding includes both a tuition-free study place and a monthly grant.
    • The study place is awarded by us as the cooperation officer, the scholarship by the International Office.

3 Application process: Do you have all the necessary information?

Submit your online application via the International Office and then register by e-mail with your desired destination and plans:

Please submit the following documents:

  • PDF of the online application
  • curriculum vitae
  • Letter of motivation
  • Transcript of Records
  • Additional documents (e.g. references, language certificates, etc.)

You can clarify any open questions in advance in a personal interview with us. You can also contact us at the above e-mail addresses.

Deadline: December 31 for probable funding. Later applications are possible if funds are available.

4. selection process

After reviewing your applications, we will make a selection of students. You will then receive either an offer of a place or a rejection. If you receive an offer of a place, a binding acceptance of the place is required by a specified deadline.

Deadlines for accepting a place:

  • April 15 for winter and summer semesters
  • September 15 for summer semester

Students who are registered by April 15 have a very high probability of receiving (partial) funding. The remaining budget for the summer semester is allocated on a first come, first served basis.

5. nomination process

After the selection, we nominate the students at the host universities, taking into account the specific deadlines of the partner universities. The nominated applicants are then notified to the International Office of the University of Kassel.

6. plan your study abroad project

Now you have time to prepare for your study abroad project, e.g. finding accommodation, arrival and departure and other organizational steps.

For your studies:

  • Look for courses at the partner universities that you can get credit for in Kassel (compulsory or elective modules).
  • Clarify the transfer of credit in advance with the respective professor in Kassel.
  • Alternatively, courses that are not credited can be listed as additional qualifications (also in consultation with the professor).
