How do we recognize truth in times of fake news and AI? On the occasion of the nationwide Freedom of Opinion Week, Kassel University Library is offering a wide range of opportunities to actively engage with opinion-forming and information literacy from May 3 to 10, 2026.

We invite you to the following offers:

  • Newspaper reading corner: In the entrance area of the campus library, you can discover a selection of current daily newspapers every day. The reading corner offers space to examine different perspectives and reflect on the importance of independent media for freedom of opinion.
  • Hands-on offer: "Deciphering disinformation - strengthening information literacy"
On three dates (5, 6 and 7 May), you will have the opportunity to learn in a hands-on interactive workshop how to recognize misinformation, manipulated content and AI-generated texts and how digital tools can be used for factual research. Registration is not required. Click here for further details and dates.
  • Thematic table in the Murhard Library: Discover our selection of books on freedom of opinion, democracy, truth and fake news - to browse, read and take away.

Join us and discuss how truth, opinion and freedom of expression are connected - in a time full of new challenges posed by fake news and AI.
