Special Event Month: Together at the Library, November 1–30

Loneliness is one of the greatest social challenges of our time. It can affect anyone—regardless of age or life circumstances. This makes places that bring people together all the more important.

The Kassel University Library is one such place: an open and vibrant gathering spot for everyone on campus and in the city. That is why the Kassel University Library is participating in the nationwide “Together in the Library” campaign month in November 2026. In cooperation with the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women, and Youth (BMFSFJ) and the German Library Association (dbv), we are sending a message of togetherness and connection.

During the campaign month, a creative hands-on corner in the entrance area of the campus library invites visitors to linger: Using writing and art supplies, visitors can leave short messages, thoughts, and ideas on the topic of community in the library, thereby contributing to a greater sense of connection in everyday life.

In addition, we’re offering other activities:

  • a citizenscience event at the Landes- und Murhardsche Bibliothek, where you can discover and transcribe historical sources together,
  • an open “puzzle break” at the Campus Library, inviting you to put together puzzles and chat with others.

Whether you’re looking for a good conversation, want to participate in our activities, or simply need a place to unwind: Our doors are open to you.
