Murhard Library

As part of the Kassel University Library, the MURHARDSCHE, as it is affectionately called by the people of Kassel, is particularly open to the citizens of the city and the region. Centrally located at Brüder-Grimm-Platz and easily accessible by public transport, it forms a central interface between cultural life and knowledge transfer in the region with its wide range of printed and electronic media.
The historically grown holdings of the Murhard Library date back to the 19th century. Therefore, the arrangement of the media partly follows other classification systems than at the newer locations of the university library. Some of the books and journals are located in closed stacks, the current literature is mostly freely accessible. E-media of the UB such as e-books, e-journals etc. can be used on the user computers.
