Professorship (W2) of Landscape Planning and Communication

The successful candidate is expected to have comprehensive knowledge and experience of teaching and research in spatial environmental planning that has strategic stakeholder perspective, and in sustainable land use. A university degree in landscape planning and, in particular, outstanding knowledge of planning theory as well as the theory and methods of modern communication processes in planning are a prerequisite. The successful candidate is also expected to have landscape planning practice and research experience in the subject areas of planning theory, landscape planning and communication, which are demonstrable in the form of a Ph.D., research projects, other scientific achievementsand publications on international level.

Research activities of the department should be concerned with planning theory based communications processes and methods as well as landscape theory. Collaboration should be established with the ecology and planning departments of the University particularly. Cooperation on a national and international level is also desirable.

Teaching commitments comprise subjects taught in the bachelor’s and master’s degree courses of the faculty, especially those of landscape architecture and landscape planning. The successful candidate will be responsible for the professional support of the faculty's GIS database and for the elementary instruction in the use GIS programmes. In addition to the regular teaching required for planning theory, communication processes and GIS as well as the supervision of degree theses, an important task will be the supervision of student projects at different stages of the course. Participation in the committees of university self-administration will also be required.
