At the faculty of Human Sciences, in the Department of Psychology, Section Developmental Psychology (Prof. Dr. Mirjam Ebersbach) the following positions are offered, starting at 01.03.2018:

2 PhD positions (EG 13 TV-H), part time (75%, i.e., 30 h/week)

This is a fixed term-position of three years with the possibility of extending the contract for a further two years (position for academic qualification corresponding to § 65 HHG i. V. m. § 2 Abs. 1 Satz 1 WissZeitVG; opportunity for PhD project).


  • Autonomous research in the frame of the PhD project - preferably concerned with (a) learning mechanisms that improve long-term retention, (b) the development of mathematical competencies, or (3) the development of attitudes and behaviour that contribute to a sustainable dealing with the environment
  • Active support in preparing and executing further research projects and publications of the section of Developmental Psychology
  • Teaching (in English or German) of, on average, 3 h/week in psychological subjects, such a s Developmental Psychology, Research Methods, empirical practical courses
  • Supervision of final projects of students
  • Support in administrational tasks and exams


  • Study in Psychology or a related subject with good to outstanding degree (diploma or master)
  • Profound interest in working (experimentally) in the field of Cognitive Development
  • Well-founded abilities to speak and write in English (at least C1-level, proofed by certificate, or English as native language)
  • Profound experiences with at least one statistics program (e.g., SPSS, R)
  • Ability and willingness to work in a team as well as to work autonomously; high job engagement and communication skills

Of advantage are:

  • Founded knowledge in the field of Developmental Psychology and in Psychological Research Methods
  • Ability to work thoroughly and independently
  • Profound organizational skills
  • Experiences with psychological research (e.g., as a student, by research internships etc.)
  • Willingness to learn German
