Doc­toral De­grees at the De­part­ment of Elec­trical En­gin­eer­ing/Com­puter Sci­ence

After a successful completion of a doctoral study, the Department of Electrical Engineering / Computer Science awards the academic degree:

  • Doctor of Engineering (Dr.-Ing.) In the subjects of Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics with Electro-technical focus, Industrial Engineering with a focus on Electrical Engineering and Computer Science

as well as the academic degree of 

  • Doctor of Natural Sciences (Dr. rer. Nat) in the fields of Computer Science, Environmental Systems Engineering and Microsystems Technology, in some cases, in cooperation with the departments of mathematics and / or natural sciences.

The University of Kassel has a PhD database that gives you the opportunity to inquire prior PhD theses. You can use the database by searching the following options; you can search by the family name of the doctoral candidate, the title of the dissertation or the period of the doctorate. The doctoral procedure is complete after the publication of the dissertation and after the doctoral candidate has received the PhD certificate. After this completion of this phase, the candidate may use the doctorate title. Answers to further questions can be found on the website of the doctoral office.
