to the department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Our department faces the rapid technical change and the globalization of the markets with high-performance research, teaching and interdisciplinary cooperation. All the while, we maintain and enhance a close contact with our partners from the industry and business. In our 27 subject areas, we offer extensive opportunities for career changers, a special program for international students, and a nationwide unique range of courses.

De­part­ment pro­fi­le

Our department stands for a wide range of topics in leading-research with domestic and international partner. The graduates of our department start their work careers as highly qualified engineers in the field of electrical engineering and computer science. In addition to the bachelor's and master's degrees in electrical engineering and computer science, the department offers three English-language international master's courses; consisting of Electrical Communication Engineering (ECE), Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency for the Middle East and North Africa Region (REMENA), and Functional Safety Engineering. Our international program of ECE is one of the oldest English master programs in Germany. The REMENA program on the other hand is more application-oriented. The FUSE program prepares its graduates for leading positions in the industry to handle demanding and complex development and research tasks. Furthermore, the program also offers the opportunity for a possible doctorate.

The department is also interested and involved with other departments; for instance, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, Renewable Energies, and Energy Efficiency. We are further expanding our cooperation with regional companies within the framework of joint training programs, such as studying in the practice group (StiP). Numerous new companies are founded and supported by our department. These aspects highlight the essentiality of our department in the economy of the North Hesse region. The Fraunhofer Institute for Wind Energy and Energy System Technology IWES, is a good example for this factor. In 2018  IWES give birth to a new System Technology branch, Fraunhofer Institute for Energy Economics and Energy System Technology IEE in Kassel.
