L5 - Practical semester MPO 2023

In the teacher education program in Special Education with a focus on inclusion (L5), the practicum semester includes a subject-specific pedagogy module in the chosen teaching subject and a module in the two special education disciplines (part of the Special Education and Inclusion Education track).

The practicum semester is typically taken in the fifth or sixth semester, and at least half of it must be completed at a special education school or a counseling and support center (BFZ).

Special note: The practicum school may also be a secondary school that practices inclusive education, provided that organizational reasons (coordination with the subject-specific practicum module or a lack of practicum placements at special education schools and BFZs) necessitate this.

Completion of the school-based part of the basic internship is a prerequisite for participation in the internship semester. To register for the internship semester, at least one confirmed place in the basic internship must be proven.

Registration takes place at the respective time via the homepage of the Department of Practical School Studies and ONE SEMESTER in advance!

Activities at the school are generally unpaid as part of the internship semester. You cannot carry out any paid work (e.g. substitute teaching at the internship school) during the internship semester.

It is also not possible to have such activities recognized as an internship semester. However, recognition is possible as part of the second training phase, the preparatory service ("Referendariat").

The University of Kassel will not require a certificate of good conduct from you. However, your internship school may request this.
