Big Band

Presentation

The big band is a full-score big band consisting of approximately five trumpets, four trombones, five saxophones, guitar, piano, bass and drums (without double instrumentation).

A program is worked on every two semesters and at the end of each semester there is usually a final concert and, if necessary, external performances.

Current and past programs

The theme for the next 2 semesters is "Brazilian Jazz".

The following programs have been presented so far, among others: Queen Swings, The Music of Snarky Puppy, The Sprit of Jimmy Hendrix, The Music of Pad Metheny, Maria Schneider Program, German Jazz Composers, Old Bottle New Wine, Songs from the Moon

Participation opportunity

Music students have priority over external musicians, as the big band is an official ensemble of the Institute of Music. If positions cannot be filled by music students, there is the possibility for externals with the necessary qualifications to play in the big band.
