The research activities in the "Education and Teaching" department are focused on sports education and sports didactics issues. The research methodology is oriented towards empirical educational research and is based on qualitative and quantitative methods (including interviews, case analysis, questionnaires, test and observation methods).

The topics in this field of work can be divided into three main areas: evaluation research, development research and training and teaching research. The research work relates to the evaluation of programs and concepts of various educational institutions, the analysis of development processes and support measures for children and adolescents as well as the investigation of competence development and teaching quality in the context of teacher training.

Evaluation research

As part of the scientific evaluation of the programs and concepts of educational institutions, the focus is on examining pedagogical quality criteria and systemic structural features.

Development research

The work carried out within the framework of developmental research mainly relates to the investigation of developmental characteristics and influencing factors as well as the effect of support measures in childhood and adolescence.

Training and teaching research

The studies in this research focus are concerned with physical education teacher education and physical education. They are based on concepts of pedagogical professionalism and educational physical education and relate thematically to teaching quality and reflective ability as well as diversity and inclusion.
