In the years 2010 to 2012, the sports and leisure behavior of primary school pupils was examined as part of INFORM and related to the appropriate design of school sports days ("Bock auf Bewegung": Albert, Scheid). On the other hand, the cooperation measures "Sport in Kassel Kitas" ( Knauf, Scheid) were accompanied as part of the initiative to make day-care facilities more exercise-friendly. In this context, a special research interest was focused on the connection between motor and social development in early childhood, which has not yet been empirically proven (Knauf, 2014). Research on the performance development of children from talent development groups (including Albert, Scheid & Adolph, 2011) and on the career development of D-squad athletes (Albert, 2010) can also be placed in the context of development studies.

The cooperation project "Ballsportgruppen im Grundschulalter - ballstars" has been carried out by the department together with MT Melsungen since 2015 and is now in its second funding phase (Scheid, Albert, Heussner, Julius, 2019-2023). At elementary school in the region, extracurricular school sports groups are offered to promote ball sports. The research interest is focused on the development of the playing skills and motor skills of primary school pupils, who are introduced to the target shooting games of handball, soccer and basketball on the basis of the Kassel model of integrative teaching (e.g. Scheid, Julius & Albert, 2020).
