Dr. Annika Mies ist wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin und Post-Doc am Lehrstuhl „Nachhaltige Unternehmensführung“ der Universität Kassel. Ihre Forschungsinteressen umfassen die Themengebiete Circular Economy (Kreislaufwirtschaft), Supply Chain und Operations Management, Nachhaltigkeitsmanagement, sowie Zielkonflikte und unbeabsichtigte Folgen im Nachhaltigkeitsmanagement. Sie hat am Lehrstuhl zum Thema „Transforming towards a sustainable circular economy: exploring the social dimension, actor contribution and emerging paradoxes“ promoviert.

Ihre Forschung präsentierte Dr. Annika Mies dem internationalen Fachpublikum auf einer Reihe internationaler Konferenzen, darunter die Konferenzen der EurOMA (2021, 2022, 2023), der EURAM (2019, 2023) und der ISDRS (2018, 2020). Darüber hinaus  hat sie im November 2021 einen Vortrag über ihre Publikation zur sozialen Dimension in der Circular Economy (Mies, Gold (2021), Mapping the social dimension of the circular economy, Journal of Cleaner Production) vor einem breiten internationalen Publikum gehalten auf Einladung des Departments of Sustainable Futures und dem Exeter Centre for Circular Economy der University of Exeter Business School.

In ihrer Lehre legt Annika Mies den Schwerpunkt auf Nachhaltigkeitszielkonflikte und die Erforschung unbeabsichtigter Folgen im Kontext der Circular Economy und dem Operations und Supply Chain Managements, u.a. durch die Modellierung von Kausalkreisläufen. Sie hält außerdem die Vorlesung „Nachhaltige Unternehmensführung I“ zusammen mit Prof. Dr. Gold.

Vor Ihrer Tätigkeit am Lehrstuhl von Prof. Dr. Gold studierte Annika Mies „Nachhaltiges Wirtschaften“ M. Sc. an der Universität Kassel und arbeitete als wissenschaftliche Hilfskraft am CliMA (Center for Climate Mitigation and Adaptation) der Universität Kassel.

Ehrenamtlich engagiert sich Annika Mies seit 2018 als Promovierendenvertretung im Graduiertenzentrum für Umweltforschung und -lehre (GradZ), und hat dort unter anderem den Stammtisch Umwelt- und Nachhaltigkeitsforschung ins Leben gerufen. Seit 2019 ist sie Mitglied bei den Scientists for Future – Regional Gruppe Kassel. Darüber hinaus ist Annika Mies seit 2019 Vertreterin des wissenschaftlichen Mittelbaus im Prüfungsausschuss „Nachhaltiges Wirtschaften“. Sie war Mitglied der Berufungskommission zur W3-Eckprofessur „Just Transitions“ im Rahmen der Einrichtung eines Zentrums zum Themenbereich Nachhaltige Entwicklung und Transformationen (2021).
