The long-distance train station is Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe. With regional train you can also reach Kassel-Hauptbahnhof. You can find train connections at www.bahn.de.
Coming from the north:
Take the A7 to the Drammetal interchange. Change there to the A38 in the direction of Halle/Leipzig/Nordhausen. Take exit 3 "Friedland". Follow the B27 in the direction of Bad Hersfeld/Eschwege. After a short time you will reach the B80, which will lead you directly through Witzenhausen.
Coming from the south and west:
Take the A7 to exit 75 "Hann.Münden - Werratal" and now follow the B80 to Witzenhausen.
