The farming sector and agroecology

Background: Agroecology is on the rise as a movement. Different segments of the food system elaborate their relations towards it in recent years. Particularly, conventional and organic farming have very different perspectives on it. To understand the future potential and development path of this paradigm we need to understand how existing segments of the food system relate to agroecology.

Aim: To assess how different segments of the farming sector (organic and conventional) and food system (retailers, processors) relate to the upcoming paradigm of agroecology. Do they reject it, co-opt it, endorse it, or learn from it? What can be explanations of this different reactions?
