Kurzes zur Person

Gunter Backes leitet das Fachgebiet für Ökologische Pflanzenzüchtung und Agrarbiodiversität seit 2013. Er studierte Agrarwissenschaften in München/Weihenstephan und promovierte dort in der Pflanzenzüchtung. Ein wesentlicher Teil seiner wissenschaftlichen Karriere liegt in Dänemark, zunächst am Forschungszentrum Risø bei Roskilde, dann an der Universität Kopenhagen. Dort wurde ökologische Pflanzenzüchtung ein immer stärkerer Schwerpunkt seiner Forschung.
