After a very long break due to the pandemic, the team of the Department of Materials in Construction and Construction Chemistry and the Official Materials Testing Institute for Construction was finally able to organize an excursion again. We traveled to Hamburg with 15 people and learned about the architectural, structural and cultural advantages of the port city. Thereby, tours of the Elbphilharmonie and the HafenCity (-construction site) were highlights of our guided tours on the first day.

On the second day, we were allowed to visit the construction project BAB A7: Tunnel Altona. Here we were welcomed by Mr. Göttlicher, member of the management EHS beratende Ingenieure für Bauwesen GmbH. The construction project is a 2.23 km long tunnel which is being built over the BAB A7. Mr. Achtruth, site manager, showed us around the construction site and provided very interesting information about concrete layers and innovative construction methods. All excursion participants would like to thank EHS very much!
