Professor Georg Krücken is Spokesperson of the Executive Board of the International Center for Higher Education Research (INCHER) and Professor of Sociology and Higher Education Research at the University of Kassel.
After undergraduate and graduate studies in sociology, philosophy, and political sciences at Bielefeld University and the University of Bologna, Krücken received his Ph.D. in sociology from Bielefeld University in 1996, where he worked as an associate professor until 2006. From 1999 to 2001 he was a visiting scholar at the Department of Sociology at Stanford University. He taught as a guest professor at the Institute for Science Studies, University of Vienna, and at the Centre de Sociologie des Organisations, Sciences Po, Paris. Prior ot his professorhship at the University of Kassel he held the endowed Chair for Science Organization, Higher Education and Science Management* at the University of Speyer.
He is co-editor of various journals, member of advisory boards and expert commissions, chairman of the German Society for Higher Education Research (GfHf) and speaker of the interdisciplinary and international research network "New Institutionalism" and since spring 2021 of the DFG research group "Multiple Competition in Higher Education".
His research interests include science studies, organizational studies, the management of higher education, and neo-institutional theory.
