Marie-France Eisner completed a Master of Arts in "Atlantic Studies in History, Culture and Society" and a Master's degree in Education (Spanish, German & Philosophy). She studied at the Universities of Trier, Mainz, Seville and Hanover and has spent time abroad in Mexico, the US and in Eastern Europe. Marie has extensive experience in the field of internationalization and international student support. She has also worked as a (Doctoral) Research Assistant in Romance studies at the Universities of Hanover and Kassel and as an accredited teacher of German as a foreign language. Her academic work focuses on the topics of work and migration.

Omphulusa Nengwekhulu holds a Master of Arts degree in Political and International Studies at Rhodes University, South Africa, where she also obtained her undergraduate qualifications in Politics and Legal Theory. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Political Studies, with particular interests in gender, Indigenous Knowledge Systems, and Indigenous epistemologies, especially the recognition of African knowledge systems and their significance.

Her research focuses on the intersections of gender, culture, and power, with a specific emphasis on VhaVenda women’s roles in traditional leadership and broader questions of masculinity, manhood, family-making, and Indigenous epistemologies. Her Master’s thesis, titled “Mbonalelo kha vhurangaphanda ha vhafumakadzi: Young Vhavenḓa Women’s Views on their Traditional Leadership Roles Historically and Post-1994,” examines young VhaVenda women’s perceptions of traditional leadership and the challenges of gender parity in post-apartheid South Africa.

Beyond her academic work, Omphulusa has extensive experience in student leadership and student development initiatives. She has held various leadership roles within student governance and has contributed to research, teaching support, and student success programmes, demonstrating a strong commitment to holistic education and community engagement at Rhodes University.

He holds a master’s in Global Political Economy and Development from the University of Kassel. In Colombia, his country of origin, he finished a bachelor’s in Social communication – Journalism from the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana in Medellin, and a specialization in Social Management from the Corporación Universitaria Minuto de Dios in Bello. In Colombia, he worked as a Journalist and Social Communicator for diverse media and in processes and projects related to Communication for Educating (Comunicación para la Educación). His research interests are related to Postdevelopment-Studies and Critical Perspectives on Land and Territory, including Critical Agrarian Studies. His master’s thesis title was “Negotiations of Development and Territory in the Comprehensive Rural Reform / Reforma Rural Integral (RRI) of the Colombian Peace Agreement 2016”.

She holds a B.Sc. in Economics and Social Studies from the University of Khartoum, specializing in Economics and Economic Development. She is currently pursuing an M.A. in Global Political Economy and Development at the University of Kassel. In her home country, Sudan, Samahir worked across various fields, including operations, development, political research, and analysis. Her research focuses on South–South geoeconomics and geopolitics, particularly in West Asia and Africa.

Masroor Saadeed is a Master’s student in Global Political Economy and Development. A Sociology graduate from the University of Dhaka and a native of Bangladesh, he has previously worked as a research assistant, copywriter, and freelance designer among other roles. During his undergraduate studies, he was actively involved in student politics and the Model United Nations circuit. With a global outlook and a passion for equity, he aims to contribute to inclusive and sustainable development.

Mosa Effat Nur is currently pursuing an MA in Global Political Economy and Development (GPED) at the University of Kassel, Germany. With a background in anthropology and over seven years of experience in development cooperation as a researcher and project specialist, Effat’s research focuses on labor exploitation, employability, representation, hegemony, inequality, Health, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), and women empowerment. Her academic interests center on migration, labor studies, postcolonial hierarchies, sustainability, gender studies, and socio-economic transformation. Her research published in different international journals.  She is experienced in qualitative research, ethnographic fieldwork, systematic literature reviews, academic administration, and project-based work practices across Bangladesh and Germany. She is skilled in project management and implementation, internal and external communication, participatory knowledge production, and SRHR & gender-focused development projects.
