Dr. Frerk Blome has been a research associate in the Department of Higher Education Research at the University of Kassel (Faculty of Social Sciences) and a member of the International Center for Higher Education Research (INCHER) since September 2022. Frerk Blome studied sociology at Bielefeld University and the University of Vienna and worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research on Conflict and Violence (IKG) at Bielefeld University and in the Faculty of Educational Science at the University of Duisburg-Essen.

In his last position, Frerk Blome was a research assistant at the Leibniz Center for Science and Society (LCSS) at Leibniz University Hannover. He completed his doctorate at the Leibniz University Hannover with his study “Universitätskarrieren und soziale Klasse. Soziale Aufstiegs- und Reproduktionsmechanismen in der Rechts- und Erziehungswissenschaft.”

His major topics are sociological inequality research, higher education research, qualitative social research, and the sociology of comparison.
