Validation

To ensure that both the validity of your CampusCard and your Mensa status are maintained, it is necessary to validate the CampusCard at least after each re-registration.

For staff, trainees/apprentices/interns and Studierendenwerk employees, validation will only be necessary every 24 months in future. However, the extended term will only come into effect after the next validation.

You can validate your card in just a few seconds by inserting it into one of the validation stations on campus.

You cannot load money onto the card here. The locations of the validation stations can be found on the Studierendenwerk website [external].

Where can I find the validation stations?

  • On the Holländischer Platz campus: In the Campus Center (passageway area on the first floor) and in the IT Service Center (at the IT help desk on the second floor)
    In the event of a fault (e.g. card gets stuck, etc.), please contact the Campus Center service desk (extension 5555).
  • At the Wilhelmshöher Allee site: In the stairwell to the left of Entrance B (Mensa)
    In the event of a fault (e.g. card gets stuck, etc.), please contact the Service Desk (extension 7777).
  • At the Heinrich-Plett-Straße site: To the right of the passageway to the cafeteria
    In the event of a fault (e.g. card gets stuck, etc.), please contact the ServiceDesk (extension 7777).
  • At the Menzelstraße site: In the north building in the anteroom to the cafeteria
    In the event of a fault (e.g. card gets stuck, etc.), please contact the ServiceDesk (extension 7777).
  • At the Witzenhausen site: In the anteroom of the library in Nordbahnhofstraße and on the first floor of the former monastery in Steinstraße (next to the staircase)
    In the event of a fault (e.g. card gets stuck, etc.), please inform the janitors in Witzenhausen (1511 or 1133).

What happens during validation?

The canteen status is set electronically and as an imprint so that you receive the prices for students or employees when paying by cash or card.
For students, the student ID card is printed for the semester for which you are currently enrolled.
The result is shown on the display of the device.

The semester ticket will no longer be printed on the CampusCard from summer semester 2024. Instead, it will be available as an online ticket.
