Chat AI (AI-supported chat service)
Overview
1. basic information
Chat AI enables members of the University of Kassel to access various AI language models, including ChatGPT, in compliance with data protection regulations. No separate account is required, registration is done with the university account. The service supports tasks in teaching, research and administration, such as text generation, idea development and analysis.
The service is aimed at all students and employees of the University of Kassel who would like to use AI-supported text generation, processing and analysis in their work processes.
The IT Service Center (ITS) of the University of Kassel is responsible for the connection and registration to the service. The GWDG (Gesellschaft für wissenschaftliche Datenverarbeitung mbH Göttingen) is responsible for the provision, technical implementation and support.
2. brief description
Chat AI offers access to many different AI language models via a central platform. Users can generate, analyze and edit texts. The platform enables secure and data protection-compliant use without passing on login data to external providers. Depending on the language model selected, text files or images can also be analyzed.
Alternative tools such as DeepL for translations or specialized software for data analysis can be used for specific tasks. However, Chat AI offers an integrated solution for a wide range of text-based applications.

Internet connection and current web browser.
6. use and access
Access is via the platform https://chat-ai.academiccloud.de. There you select the option "Funded registration" and then select the University of Kassel. You will be redirected to a login page where you have to log in with your UniAccount access data.

No training courses are currently offered.
9. special notes (data protection, terms of use)
No entries are processed for models without the suffix (External). For models with the suffix (External), the inputs can be used to train the models or forwarded to the manufacturer and stored temporarily.
The use of Chat AI is subject to the IT user regulations of the University of Kassel. The terms of use of the GWDG apply.
