UniKasselClient (UKC)

New: The UKC is now also available for deaneries, examination offices and departmental secretariats.

General information

Uni Kassel Clients (UKCs) are centrally managed by the IT Service Center of the University of Kassel and offer automated software and security updates that are provided directly from a central location. To provide your end device with the necessary updates, you only need to be connected to the university's wired network or establish a VPN connection.

Thanks to central device management, the use of pre-configured systems and our wide range of software solutions, we offer you a highly secure and efficient system. This not only contributes to the security of your data, but also increases the efficiency of your work processes.

The IT Service Center only uses qualified business hardware from our current framework agreement. The devices are currently running Windows 10 and are currently being gradually upgraded to Windows 11. In addition to providing the equipment, the IT Service Center also takes care of the professional management and environmentally friendly disposal of the devices at the end of their useful life.

The UKCs offer a comprehensive software portfolio that is tailored to the various work areas and needs of our users. This enables us to provide solutions that specifically support and facilitate your day-to-day work. All devices are delivered fully preconfigured and are ready for immediate use.

You can register for a UKC via your personal UniAccount. A one-time connection to the university's wired network is required for the first login.

How can I tell if I have a UKC?

All Uni Kassel Clients (UKCs) are provided with a carefully affixed label from the IT Service Center. This label contains important information such as the model designation, the device name, the MAC address, the date of purchase and the warranty end date. This data makes it easier to identify the device and enables quick access to relevant information, especially for support requests.

Hologram sticker:

On newer UKC devices, especially those with Windows 11, there is a special hologram sticker with the UKC raccoon on the front of the notebook. This sticker serves as a clearly visible indication that the device belongs to the Uni Kassel client program.

Label on the underside:

There is another label on the underside of the notebook with important device information. The ITS watermark in the background and the ITS telephone number also make it clear that this is a UKC device.

This information is particularly helpful when contacting the IT service desk or creating a support ticket. Such a label can also be found on other devices, such as printers or monitors, which were purchased as part of the UKC offer.

Matrix42 Software:

If there is no IT service center label on your device, you can still check whether it is a UKC.

In the taskbar, under the hidden icons, you will find the Matrix42 Software Depot application, recognizable by a distinctive purple square. If this symbol is visible, you can be sure that you are working on a Uni Kassel client.
