deals with the use of innovative methods, models, and tools for factory planning. Regarding these points, we mainly focus on the areas of the model-based planning of logistics and production processes in a company at one location, at several locations, and beyond the enterprise boundaries. In this context, new concepts for a distributed production and virtual enterprises are as crucial as innovative IT infrastructures for the planning and modelling of factories based on integrated digital models as they are currently built within the Digital Factory concepts. Specialised in the use of modern methods of simulation and visualisation, we support the applied research in the field of the Digital Factory. The intention is to achieve a new quality level of the virtual engineering process for factory planning.
