Migration of the library system

The Kassel University Library is overhauling its circulation system and will switch to the FOLIO (The Future of Libraries is Open) library management system in August.
This transition is part of a major project involving university and college libraries in Hesse. The transition will take place while the library remains open, and you will be able to use many services as usual. Unfortunately, service disruptions are unavoidable, particularly during the period from August 17th to 27th. On this page, we will keep you informed about available services and any restrictions during the migration period.
Hours of Operation and Service Hours During the Transition:
All University Library locations will be open as usual, and service hours at our service desks will also remain unchanged. However, not all services will be available; please see the table below for a detailed list.
Exception: The Murhard Library will be closed from August 17th - 21th due to relocation work.
Borrowing, Returns, Loan Periods
Borrowing materials will not be possible from August 17th–27th. Loan periods have already been adjusted in advance so that no returns should be necessary during the migration period. You can still return your materials at the service desks. No overdue notices will be issued during this period either.
Orders, Reservations
Unfortunately, orders placed through the internal interlibrary loan system and holds cannot be transferred to the new system. You will need to reorder the items after the migration. We recommend that you create a watchlist in KARLA in advance and save all relevant titles there.
Interlibrary loan requests are not affected by this; they will be transferred.
New with FOLIO
After the transition, log in to your user account using your university account. Non-university members will receive the necessary login credentials via email as part of the migration—you must take action in any case.
To log in to the self-service kiosks, please use a PIN, which is reset by default to your date of birth (DDMMYY). You can change this via your user account.
