Library of the Hofgeismar Seminary
Since the beginning of 2010, around 2,100 historical prints from the old stock of the Hofgeismar preacher's seminary have been on permanent loan to Kassel University Library.
The majority of the books date from the 18th century, large parts also from the 16th and 17th centuries. Among them are numerous volumes from the previous possession of the Hanau Consistory, which was dissolved in 1873.
The main acquisitions of the Hofgeismar seminary library were Hessian and general church history, sermon literature, liturgy and Bible editions.
The printed books are housed in the Murhard Library building in the display case system in the Owl Hall foyer and are shelved under call number 34. The books are gradually being catalogued electronically in KARLA, and a complete card catalog of the holdings is also available. This can be consulted in the reading room of the Special Collections. There, the volumes are also made available for use after advance order.
