Winter closing ceremony for role training 2022/2023

On Friday, 14.04.2023, the closing ceremony of the roller training took place in the indoor swimming pool in Vellmar. From 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., the indoor pool belonged entirely to the kayaking enthusiasts from the University of Kassel, the KSK (Kanu-Sport-Kassel) and their friends.

The University of Kassel's general university sports team invited guests to the closing ceremony to thank the KSK for the cooperation (canoe polo, roller training) that began in the summer and continued in the winter. The entire indoor swimming pool in Vellmar was rented for this purpose, where the joint roller training also took place over the winter.

The KSK's mobile canoe polo goal was set up, a buffet was set up and the baby pool became a ball pool. At the beginning, there was time to perfect your own rolls, refine your feel for the boat or practise paddle supports, either alone or under supervision.

At around 4 p.m., the Olympic Games were announced with 12 different disciplines. There were various races in which the distance had to be covered in unusual ways (e.g. in pairs in a boat), the hand roll with beer in hand, a boat change (under or over water) by two people or the gladiator fight on the SUP - to name just a few examples.

Afterwards, the winners of the Olympics were determined by drawing lots, in line with the Olympic motto: "Taking part is everything!". The university sports department had provided prizes for this, for which we would like to express our thanks! The participants also took this opportunity to thank the university trainers (Nadine and Philipp). Heinz from the KSK also deserves a special mention here, as he carried out many of the roller training sessions for the KSK.

After the warm words, there was still a little time to really let off steam. A round of canoe polo in the swimmers' pool was on the program and those who wanted to practice their rolls could use the non-swimmers' pool. A worthy end to this wonderful day.

Many thanks to the head of university sports, Tobias Heyer, for making this great event possible!

Special thanks also go to the administration and staff of the Vellmar indoor pool, who gave us a warm welcome in winter. We felt very comfortable and hope to be guests again next fall!

And finally, many thanks to all participants for the food donations and the fun day with you. We hope you were all able to achieve your own goals and that we will see you on the Fulda in the summer.
