DHM Ultimate Frisbee back in Kassel after more than 10 years

Once again, the University of Kassel's University Sports Department will be hosting the annual German University Ultimate Frisbee Championships in June. From June 17 to 18, a total of 16 teams from various German universities are expected to put their skills to the test in exciting games on the Giesewiesen sports fields.

The event will not only promote sport, but also interdisciplinary exchange between the approximately 250 students. The tournament is hosted by the German University Sports Association (adh) and organized together with the Kassel Ultimate Frisbee club "Himmelstürmer", which is based at TSG 1887 Kassel-Niederzwehren e.V..

Ultimate Frisbee is a dynamic team sport. The aim of the game is to catch the frisbee disc in the end zone in order to score points. But the special thing about the sport is the "spirit of the game". Ultimate frisbee is a non-contact sport without referees. This means that the players are responsible for adhering to the rules and ensuring fair play. This promotes the spirit of fair competition.

The game is played between two teams of seven players on a rectangular pitch with two end zones. The players in possession of the frisbee are not allowed to move, so teammates have to run free by using different tactics. Speed, precision and teamwork are crucial to success.

The German University Championship in Ultimate Frisbee promises a weekend full of sportsmanship, team spirit and a rousing atmosphere. The event is open to all interested spectators who want to experience this dynamic sport up close. Admission is free.
