Uni on the move 2024: Review of a successful event

On June 19, 2024, the sports campus around the Aueparkhalle was once again transformed into a lively place of sporting togetherness when the University of Kassel's General University Sports Department hosted the big sports and health day "Uni in Bewegung".

Uni in motion at and in the Aueparkhalle enables the traditional tournaments to be held. In addition to soccer, beach volleyball and badminton, a large number of participants signed up for Roundnet for the first time. Roundnet is a game in which two teams of two players play around a round, stretched net. The aim of the game is to hit the ball into the net so skillfully that the opposing team is forced to make a mistake. And of course, the team half-marathon is also a must in this tournament series. Several teams divided the 21.0975 kilometers into seven sections through the Aue. All in all, it was another great tournament day, which we look forward to repeating!

A special highlight this year was the Student Health Management (SGM) stand, which was represented for the first time. The SGM has set itself the goal of establishing health-promoting study conditions for students, networking internal stakeholders more closely and creating needs-based and effective health-promoting offers. The SGM stand enabled stimulating discussions with students and employees and also offered fun and enjoyment at the Corn Hole competition.

There was also plenty of action on stage: in the afternoon, interested parties could take part in a 100-meter rowing sprint. Four people competed against each other on ergometers. The exciting races were broadcast live on a screen and created a rousing atmosphere.

A varied program was offered in the gym as well as in the multifunctional room and on the stage. Fitness classes with motivating music such as Zumba, Jumping Fitness or BBP attracted many participants and created an exuberant atmosphere. In the multifunctional room, quieter courses such as Pilates and yoga offered a relaxed alternative. In these courses, the focus was on introducing common additional materials such as blocks, bolsters, balls, rings and yoga straps, which was particularly well received.

In addition, those interested were able to complete a trial training session at the UNIfit fitness studio and familiarize themselves with the training options. A special attraction was the bioimpedance analysis (BIA measurement), where muscle mass, body water and body fat percentage, among other things, could be determined. An exciting challenge awaited visitors at the Battlemind Challenge, where endurance and brains were required.

All in all, "Uni in Bewegung" was a successful tournament day full of sporting highlights, community activities and lots of fun. The event was a complete success and the General University Sports team is already looking forward to a repeat next year!
