You have previous knowledge of German and one of the following language certificates/evidence of your German level:

  • DSH, TestDaF or TELC C1 Hochschule
    (at the start of your studies following the language test)
  • another (recognized) certificate from Telc or Goethe-Institut (not older than 1 year).
    For non-recognized certificates, please refer to point 3.
  • German studies or similar:
    Proof of study experience in German studies, DaF or similar will also be recognized.

Course fee

As a student at the University of Kassel, you can take one course in German, English, French and Spanish free of chargeper semester. The offer is limited to two free courses per degree program until you graduate.

Staff, doctoral students and guests have to pay for the course.

1. assumption of costs by the department

Whether a course is free of charge for you depends on the regulations of your department.

  • The course page will indicate whether the course is free of charge or subject to a fee.
  • Only courses that are listed under "International Studies" or "Sponsorship" are free of charge. You will not receive an invoice for these courses.

2 Course fees

If a course is subject to a fee, the fee depends on
