Advent Tea of the International Women's Club Kassel 2016

On December 14, 2016, the annual Advent Tea of the International Women's Club Kassel took place. The donations collected at this fundraiser will benefit, among others, the German-American student exchange program of the Association of German-American Clubs (VDAC).  
This also gives students at the University of Kassel the opportunity to apply for scholarships at selected partner universities in the USA. Prof. Dr. Claudia Finkbeiner praised the work of the International Women's Club and the many years of very good cooperation with the research group of Foreign Language Teaching and Learning Research and Intercultural Communication in the Department 02 of the University of Kassel: "My very big thanks go to the Kassel Club and thus to all the women who do valuable work throughout the year and are committed to the wonderful cause of German-American student exchange."
American student Amber Terry, who studies mathematics and German at Troy University (Alabama) and is spending two semesters at the University of Kassel for the current exchange year, took the opportunity to introduce herself for the first time with a speech delivered in German and to report on her interesting impressions and experiences.
Prof. Finkbeiner concluded with her speech, in which she emphasized the great importance of a stay abroad for the students. She underlined the importance of the German-American friendship, especially considering the common history. She concluded with a Chinese proverb to inspire reflection: "Every thing has three sides: One that you see, one that I see, and one that you and I don't see." Sharing these three sides is the most important prerequisite for peace and also for German-American understanding, Prof. Finkbeiner said.
