Narratives in Mixed Reality

Compact seminar in three parts + interim supervision

In the “Narrative” seminar, new formats for communicating project content using MR technology are taught and tested one-on-one. Participating students gain knowledge of hybrid representation and MR techniques, which they then apply directly to their own projects. Further information will be announced via Moodle.

This seminar is suitable for MA students and BA students starting in their 4th semester or later.

Prerequisites: knowledge of (and proficiency in) Rhino3D, Grasshopper, and Adobe CC.

This seminar can be combined with the “Communal Washing Factory” project as a profile project for the Master’s specialization DR—Focus on Design and Building Theory.

The goal of the seminar is to learn and employ MR representations (which combine digital and physical artifacts as a hybrid approach) to create a unique narrative for each “Communal Water Factory” studio project. Key ideas and qualities in each project design are explored through the creation of animated storyboards, MR spatial experiences in 1:1 MR, and interactive presentations. Techniques for MR hybrid representations using animation sequences are applied to develop a narrative for each project.
