This course is designed to introduce students to the principles of environmental design, including climate, environment, and daylight analysis. Through a combination of lectures, discussions, and hands-on exercises, students will gain a solid foundation in the principles and tools necessary to create sustainable and environmentally responsible designs in architecture and urban design. To analyze environmental conditions at different scales, from urban to building scale, the course will introduce using following design tools: Rhinoceros, Autodesk Forma and Climate Studio.

Throughout the course, students will focus on developing critical thinking skills and evaluating their design ideas, rather than simply relying on simulations or analysis tools. By the end of the course, students will be able to integrate sustainability principles into their design decisions and create designs that respond effectively to the unique environmental conditions of a given site.

In addition to lectures and practical exercises, this course will also incorporate various discussion topics and assignments to stimulate students' understanding of the subject matter. Through these activities, students will be encouraged to think critically and creatively about the environmental impact of their designs and explore potential solutions to minimize that impact. By engaging in discussions and assignments, students will develop their communication and collaboration skills, which are crucial for success in the architecture field.
