EU Project European Information System For Organic Markets (EISfOM)

Description of Project

EISfOM is a project financed by the EU in which researchers from seven European countries are involved. The main aim of the project is to build up a framework for reporting of statistical market data about the organic sector in countries of the EU, EU Accession countries and EFTA countries. Existing information collections in 32 European countries are to be analysed and investigated for proposals for developing existing data collections.

The main task of the Department is apart from the accompanying support of the project, to investigate the level of data collection and processing in Hungary and the Czech Republic. Our Department is chiefly responsible for the drafting of suggestions for a harmonisation of collection and processing of data in conventional statistic (e.g. by EUROSTAT) with national systems to the organic market. The suggestions are to be discussed in an EU seminar on development, harmonisation and quality security of organic data collection and processing systems and then revised to then be implemented in various countries on an exemplary basis.
