Brief introduction
M.Sc. Hendrik Schwenson is a research associate at the "Department of Grassland Science and Renewable Resources" at the University of Kassel in the research focus area of resource management and project coordinator for the CoAct research and development project.
From 2010 to 2018, he completed his studies in materials science at the Georg-August University of Göttingen with interim stays at the Fraunhofer Institute IVV in Freising and at the Università degli Studi di Padova in northern Italy. He wrote his final thesis in inorganic chemistry under Prof. Dr. Dietmar Stalke and synthesised sulphur-centred ligands for single-molecule magnets under inert gas conditions.
After further training as a certified project management associate (IPMA Level D), he already worked for 3 years in project management for international research and development projects with a focus on circular economy and biochar from residual biomasses.
Since 2022, he has taken on the role of project coordinator at the GNR in Witzenhausen for the BMBF-funded CoAct project.

- Renewable energies and renewable raw materials
- Development of new resources through utilisation concepts for residual biomasses
- Fields of application for biochar
- Integrative concepts for the use of residual biomass for energy generation and activated carbon production
- Advanced wastewater treatment to remove micro-pollutants
