FAQ - VPN
Make sure that you can generally log in with your Uniaccount. To check this, you can try to log in to Identity Management . If the login attempt fails, your password may have expired or be incorrect. You can find more information on this in the UniAcount FAQ.
Furthermore, your password must not contain an "&" character. If there is an "&" character in the password, this will lead to problems with the login.
Please install the appropriate certificates (see Certificates for VPN use)
The certificates installed on your device are out of date or come from an unreliable source. Please update the corresponding certificates on your device. (see Certificates for VPN use)
The new VPN only provides you with a split tunnel. Please use the access via the library.
Split tunneling is a VPN function that divides your Internet connection into two areas. This means that all websites of the University of Kassel domain (.uni-kassel.de) are routed through the secure, encrypted VPN tunnel, while the remaining traffic is still connected directly to the Internet.
The controller disconnects each session after 24 hours at the latest. The session is also disconnected after 1 hour of idle time.
In the event that the VPN client is continuously updating, we recommend a clean uninstall and a new installation of the client.
If the installation fails, please follow these steps:
- Close Cisco Installer and pop-ups from Cisco, check in Activity Monitor
- Delete ALL Cisco Installer Packages from the Downloads folder and remove them from the recycle bin
- Enter the following in the terminal:
cd/opt/
ls
sudorm -f /cisco/anyconnect/
sudopkgutil --forget com.cisco.pkg.anyconnect.vpn - Then download and install the VPN client again, approve permissions and finish the installation, then restart
- If an error message appears, check the applications to see if a Cisco VPN client exists (may also be in the 'Cisco' folder), then continue as usual
Please deactivate Internet Protocol, Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) under the network properties of your network adapter (not Cisco AnyConnect!) via the system settings of your computer.
You can find detailed instructions under the following link: Deactivate Internet Protocol IPv6
Please check the "Youth filter" setting on your FritzBox. If this is checked, only addresses are resolved if the FritzBox is the DNS server.
