eTranslation is used for the fast and reliable machine translation of texts and documents. The tool is particularly suitable for official, administrative or scientific content that requires a high-quality translation.
Students, lecturers and staff have the opportunity to use eTranslation for official or academic purposes. The focus here is on use in the university context.
The IT Service Center (ITS) is responsible for providing and supporting the use of eTranslation.
2. brief description
eTranslation is an AI-powered translation tool from the European Commission. It provides a secure environment for the translation of sensitive content and enables translations between numerous official European languages as well as other languages.
Alternatively, DeepL can be used.
3. main functions
The texts or documents to be translated are transmitted in encrypted form and the translations are carried out in compliance with high data protection standards.
4th deployment scenario
A scientific article should be available in English and German at the same time. Teachers can quickly create the first draft with eTranslation and then fine-tune the language.
A member of staff in a department has to provide an information sheet for international students in several languages and uses eTranslation for the initial translation.

A current web browser is required for use.

Employees and students of the University of Kassel can use this service free of charge (see instructions).

eTranslation's translation processes meet the highest data security requirements. Transmitted texts are treated confidentially and are not stored permanently.
eTranslation may only be used for official or scientific purposes.
